Doug Swanson Memorial Scramble Rules

  1. DoIT League Rules apply for all play.

  2. The field is comprised of 4-person teams (3-person if uneven numbers). You keep/turn-in only a single score representing your team's effort.

  3. Teams are set up by sorting on 7 Game Average (or Season Average if you haven't played more then 7 games yet), dividing the league into four flights, and then picking the top player (low handicap) from Flight 1 and the bottom player (high handicap) from Flight 4, the bottom player in Flight 2, and the top player in Flight 3 to form Team 1. The rest of the teams are a continuation of this sequence. The only "tuning" done is when players of similar average could be moved to avoid regular teams from playing in the same foursome.

  4. A four person best ball scramble is played by all players hitting a shot. One shot is then chosen, the other three players pick up, and the foursome hits next from the chosen spot, in any order. When someone holes out, the rest pick up, and a single score is recorded for the hole, e.g. a 3, and play moves to the next tee. You are reminded to play quickly, and of course, honestly. Team captains, the reps from Flight 1, are responsible to see that both take place, and to score/turn-in a single score card.

  5. To bring everyone into the game, a tee shot from each player must be used at least once, and can NOT be used more than five times; even if your group has less than four players. This involves some strategy, so you may wish to pass up a big drive by a low handicapper in order to use a lesser but playable shot from a higher handicap player.

  6. Prizes have been set as follows:

    1st Place Team - $24
    2nd Place Team - $20
    3rd Place Team - $16

Tie breakers are 1) most hole-in-ones, 2) most eagles, 3) most birdies, and 4) most pars. If still equal, a tie will be declared and prize money combined and then split.

  7. Tee times begin at the usual time. Be prompt!
